Dr. Chris St.Germain, Psychologist
In addition to my private practice, I am employed at local colleges and universities. I also work with various agencies, companies, and groups conducting trainings and workshops. Prior to my practice opening, I was the assistant director of the Counseling Service at Vassar College.
I live in the Hudson Valley with my partner and our small dog, Jackie- who is a ball of energy!
I enjoy painting, swimming, theater, reading good mysteries, films, meditation/mindfulness, and recently started trying my hand at building furniture- with mixed results!
Hope. Strength. Support. It's in your grasp.
Welcome! I am glad you are considering to work with me as your therapist. It is very important to me that you get the results you are looking for in your therapy and that your experience is a very positive one.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Poughkeepsie, New York. It is a general practice, seeing people with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self esteem, stress management, identity development, relationship problems, sexual and intimacy concerns, adjustment concerns, mindfulness/relaxation work, work related stress, and quality of life.
My areas of specialization include anxiety, couples work, identity development, and LGBTQ/ sexuality and gender concerns.
I have an integrative approach to my therapeutic work and make attempts to tailor the therapeutic process to the needs and styles of each client. My background is generally in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with integrated interpersonal, psychodynamic, and mindfulness interventions.
Individuals from all backgrounds are openly welcomed here. I view each person I work with as an individual with unique experiences, lifestyles, cultures, life experiences, and personal strengths. I believe these particular factors help me to design and tailor an individualized professional therapeutic relationship that works best with your needs and your goals of therapy.
I am here to offer guidance and support, helpful tools and skills, and to be your advocate as you continue on your lifelong journey to wellness
